What Are the Three Types of Shingles?

1. 3-tab shingles: These are the most basic and economical type of shingle. They are lightweight and have a flat appearance, with three tabs cut out along the lower edge to look like three separate pieces. 
2. Dimensional shingles: Also known as architectural or laminate shingles, these are a step up from 3-tab shingles in terms of quality and cost. They are thicker and have a multi-dimensional appearance, which adds depth and character to a roof. 
3. Luxury or premium shingles: These are the highest quality asphalt shingles available. They are designed to replicate the look of natural materials, like slate or cedar wood shakes, and they offer superior durability and weather resistance.
